ABOUT MIMESIS MAGAZINE

Mimesis magazine stages conversations on contemporary moving image and performance practices. We embrace the compulsion for the mimetic as an opportunity for mutation and trial, imitation and reflection.

We situate ourselves at the intersection of film practice as acts of performance, and the performance of our everyday as it is fundamentally shaped by the cinematic and the moving image.

We see film’s trans-temporal communication capacity as a tool to decipher power structures that exist within our sensorial worlds.

We offer Mimesis as a space of learning and resistance, guided by an engagement with writing and publishing practices, kindling texts and events as forms of cultural analysis and intervention.

The magazine is collectively produced by, for, and with practitioners. Our artist-run platform publishes text, audio, video, and multi-media works, produces public events, and more.
