blessed with switch
Asher Hartman with Jasmine Orpilla
His most recent show, “Blessed with Switched” was created in collaboration with Jasmine Orpilla. It premiered at the UCI Claire Trevor School of Art on 6 June 2024, and at Georges Pompidou Centre in Paris on 19 October 2024. In the play, Orpilla, performer composer, and Hartman, director and writer, present a “dark, unnerving hacking and synching of external languages that poison and orchestrate the oceanic tides of unconscious matter within to unleash a glorious new Leviathan.” (UCI notes).
For the second issue of Mimesis, Hartman and Orpilla are sharing with our readers three prisms onto their project:
Blessed with switch
A version in English of the script by Asher Hartman and Jasmine Orpilla
About blessed with switch
A text written by Asher Hartman about “Blessed with Switch”
A recording of a rehearsal
In this 8 minutes 44 seconds video, Jasmine Orpilla rehearses and performs to the camera parts of Blessed With Switch.
Asher Hartman's work with the Gawdafful National Theater, which he directs, and his now legendary performances at Machine Project Los Angeles and the Lab in San Francisco, take the audience journeying through a psychic Klein-bottlesque spectacle that channels intuition, clown and cringe humor, and dramatic intensity.
